Courage Champions

The project facilitates social integration, personal development, and community cohesion through the discipline of taekwondo for both displaced Ukrainian youth living in Sofia and their Bulgarian peers. Weekly taekwondo training sessions were conducted, emphasizing not only the physical techniques but also the mental and emotional disciplines of the sport – to build strength and resilience.
We expect that the results of the project will reflect both personal growth for participants, and broader community impacts. Additionally, we believe the project will provide a positive outlet for stress and anxiety, contributing to improved mental health and emotional well-being among the participants. By bringing together displaced Ukrainian youth and their Bulgarian peers, the project seeks to break down barriers, foster mutual understanding, and build friendships across cultural divides, enhancing social cohesion. Beyond martial arts, participants will develop crucial life skills such as discipline, respect, empathy, leadership, and teamwork. The project aims to empower participants by providing them with opportunities to take on challenges, achieve goals, and recognize their own potential, leading to heightened self-esteem and personal growth.
